Mentorship Program

Mentorship signups are closed for April - June 2021.

Stay tuned for the next round of mentorship pairings!

KCCC is proud to announce our new Climbing Mentorship Program!

We’re here to connect experienced climbers with those who are ready to up their skills. Do you want to give guidance and support to newer climbers? Sign up as a mentor! Are you looking to improve your technique or start climbing outside? Sign up as a mentee!

Both mentors and mentees can come from a broad array of skills and experience, and you are welcome to sign up for both. Mentorship is relevant at all stages of the game.

Prospective participants can fill out the questionnaires to become a mentor and a mentee. We will use your responses to match you up with an appropriate mentor/mentee partner, based on your experience, goals, preferences, and so forth.

Participants are committing to an 8-week mentoring session. While how often and where you meet is up to each pair to decide, we do ask that you commit to connecting at least once per week throughout the program.

We’ll kick things off with an orientation gathering online, where you can connect with your new partner, and we’ll share tips for how to get the most out of your mentoring relationship.

Important Dates

  • If you’d like to be a mentor or mentee, fill out the respective questionnaire. You can do both! Questionnaires must be completed by Sunday, March 28 to be included.

  • We’ll kick off the program with a virtual orientation on Tuesday, April 6. You’ll receive your mentorship match information by that date, too.

  • The program runs from April 6 to June 1.

Additional Info

  • Filling out the questionnaire does not guarantee that you will be paired up in this round. There is a possibility that we will not have enough mentors for all mentees. If you don’t get paired up this round, you will be given priority for our next round of mentorship pairings in a couple months!

  • While some mentors may have professional experience or certifications, most will not. We are not able to vet each mentor, so we encourage mentees to use discretion and proceed at your own risk. (And as we all know, climbing is an inherently dangerous activity!)

  • Yep, we are still in the middle of a pandemic. We expect all participants to adhere to CDC guidelines, and discuss covid safety with their partner. If you have specific risk limitations regarding covid, feel free to include that in your questionnaire responses.
